Sunshine hosted a baby shower at her apartment for Lisa Funk. Lisa is due in a couple weeks. She looks adorable. I can only wish to look that cute when I am that far along. I loved seeing all my old girlfriends from our old Santa Monica ward.

Palm Springs

Dinner at Amore (Michael did not want to take a picture)

Lunch and tennis tournament

Michael and his mom

MLK weekend we met up with Michael's parents to visit Palm Springs. We stayed at La Quinta Resort and it was so beautiful. They were also hosting a college tennis tournament, which was a lot of fun to watch. I did not take a picture, but LG's is a Jacob's tradition in Palm Springs. It was delicious.

Anywhere but Here

Maybe since it’s been raining for 5 days I can’t help but think of being somewhere other than L.A. I keep thinking about my favorite places I’ve been to and places I would love to visit again. Here’s what I’ve been daydreaming about . . .

Angkor Wat - It was like nothing I've ever seen before. It took a lot of bus time and wild rides to get there, but it was definitely worth it.
Sitra, Portugal - My sister and I visited this city because her Portuguese neighbors in Madrid said we had to do it. We were there for a windy, cloudy day and it made visiting old castles that much more mystical.
Costa Rica - I realized everyone I knew was going to Costa Rica and a lot of times it was more than once. It was my first real trip with Michael and Michael's mom came as well. We had the best time.
Prado in Madrid - All we did on my study abroad in college was visit European museums, but we did not make it over to Madrid. When I went to see Megan in Madrid I was so excited to be in a huge museum again.
Venice - We visited Venice on my Art History study abroad. It seems like a lot people have bad experiences traveling there, but I thought it was so beautiful.
Estero Beach, Mexico - My grandparents used to have a place and jet skis down in Ensenada. When we were growing up we went down there all the time. We would catch crabs, swim, play volleyball, and do all the things you get to do when you stay right near the beach. I have so many fun memories from going down with cousins and family friends.

Nerts

For about two semesters in college some friends and I had a weekly ritual of playing Nerts. We played on a week night and it was always a great break from studying. I would look forward to it all week. Since leaving college I have always had a hard time finding people to play with. Over the break Megan and Evan hosted a game of Nerts. I was a little nervous to have Michael as a partner since we had never played together before, but luckily he performed. We ended up winning the match. It was a very proud moment for team Jacobs. We are always looking for an opportunity to beat Megan and Evan at a game. = )

Christmas in San Francisco

After opening presents at Michael's parents we drove up to San Francisco. We made it in time to drop off our stuff at the hotel and get dinner at a diner across the street. It was the perfect Christmas dinner. The next day we hit up the after Christmas sales since our hotel was right in Union Square.

Celebrity Sightings

2006 National Magazine Awards

Michael and I went to see Bright Star a couple months ago and I noticed that Meg Ryan was sitting a few rows behind us. The movie was pretty serious, but there were a couple of parts in the movie that were funny. At those parts we heard Meg Ryan's loud, honest, and recognizable laugh. We thought it was hilarious. I loved that she had this boisterous laugh that she did not stifle or hold back. It made me like Meg Ryan again.

* My sister, Megan, recently sat next to Ashton, Demi, and Demi's daughter in a movie and when I was telling her about Meg Ryan’s theatre demeanor she thought it was strange that Ashton was also a very loud laugher as well. We now think twice when we hear a noisy laugh in the movie theatre . . . it’s either the creepy guy or a celebrity.
