Activities

I've been working a day job Monday thru Friday basically since I graduated college. It's nice to have a job and I can't complain, but some times I feel like I miss out on daytime activities. It's only compounded when you add in that once you get off work you cannot go anywhere because of traffic. I’ve been starting to think about what I am going to do (besides for nursing) with my daytime hours during my maternity leave. I started making a list of activities I do not want to miss out on in L.A. and beyond. Here it is.

The Ellen Show
Sample Sale at the Market
Huntington Garden Tea Room
Virginia Robinson Estate
Caroll Ave
Norton Simon Museum
Craft and Folk Art Museum
Greystone Park
Downtown Art Walk
MOCA
The Natural History Museum
Rose Bowl Flea Market
Sweet Lady Jane
Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles
Santa Barbara (Since Michael has never been)
Catalina
Super King Grocery store

Hopefully the baby girl is up for it!

Lose the Glasses

Before I got married I quit my job, moved home, and babysat while planning our wedding. I used to pick up my sweet little buddy Brendan from his first grade class. One day my eyes were bothering me and I wore my glasses to pick him up. I pulled up to the curb and he skeptically got in the car. He told me he could hardly recognize me.

He then said "Lose the glasses."
K: "No, I won't be able to see well. Put your seatbelt on."
B: "I'll put my seatbelt on if you take off your glasses."

A few days later I once again picked him up with the glasses and as soon as he got into the car he said . . .

B: "Don't you remember what I told you about your glasses?"
K: "Yes, you don't really like them."
B: "When did you get glasses?"
K: "I got them in college. I was in a class and the teacher asked me to read some thing on the board and I couldn't read it. Everyone else could."

He was quiet for a little bit and then he asked me "Were you ugly in college?"

The bride

We had a great time visiting my family this weekend and going to Monica’s wedding. On our way down we were finally able to get CafĂ© Rio. I had been looking forward to it for a long time. It took me about 45 minutes to eat the salad because I was savoring every bite.

On Saturday morning we were about to head out to the temple for my cousin’s wedding and Michael realized his wallet was missing, which had his temple recommend in it. We helped him look, but then had to leave him so we would not miss the ceremony. (Recently Michael lost his keys when we were about to head back to our place from Modesto and we looked for them for an hour.) When we were about to go into the temple Michael called because he had found his wallet upstairs in my parent’s bedroom on the floor. We had not even gone upstairs since coming into town. Turns out our sweet dog Bella had taken his leather wallet upstairs to chew and had left it there. Michael rushed down to La Jolla and just barely missed the wedding.
We had a great time at the reception with cousins and family friends. It was so fun to grow up close to my cousins on my dad’s side. We also missed having Kelsea home with everyone.

Before we headed out on Sunday we got to hear Evan speak at his sacrament meeting on Sunday afternoon and see the army of children in their ward. I always get sad leaving my family/San Diego and doing the drive back to L.A. Getting settled into our apartment before starting the work week helps soften the blow.

There's a Nightmare In My Closet

Last night I woke up to our bathroom light on and Michael walking around. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was looking for some jewelry that was dropped. I asked him whose jewelry it was since he does not wear jewelry. He explained that it was someone else's and apologized for having the light on.

Last week we had two other episodes of sleep walking. The first was waking up to him standing by my side of the bed with his bedside books and placing them on my nightstand. He then told me that's where they go now.

The other episode was when I woke up to him standing over my dresser and I asked him what he was doing . . . (I didn't want him to break our glass vase or picture frames). He responded "What are you doing?" I then asked him if he was dreaming and he responded with "Are you dreaming?"*

*Michael loves to ask questions back when he is asked a question. We watched Madea Goes to Jail with his parents and we all starting cracking up at the dialogue between Madea and Dr. Phil in the movie because it was a little too similar with conversations we've had with Michael. When I told Michael about it in the morning he thought it was so cool that he did it in his sleep too.

So I've started thinking/freaking out about what to do with a baby and a sleepwalking husband. He had been sleeping soundly for awhile, but sure enough this week we had a lot of activity going on. At least he's just been tidying up and looking for jewelry . . . but I'm still not sure I'd trust him with a baby at night. Am I going to get any sleep?
